J. Cameron MacDonald, CFA – President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. MacDonald has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Westaim since April 2009 and director since December 2008. He is the former Chairman of the Goodwood Advisory Committee (2012-2014) and former President and CEO of Goodwood Inc. (2000-2012). Prior to Goodwood Inc., from 1990 through 1999, he was a Director, member of the Research and Executive Committee, and shareholder of Connor Clark Private Trust. From 1983 through 1990 he held various positions at CIBC Wood Gundy in Credit, Operations, and thereafter as an Account Executive (Vice President). Mr. MacDonald holds a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) from Wilfrid Laurier University and is a CFA Charterholder.
Robert T. Kittel, CPA, CFA – Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Kittel has been Chief Operating Officer of Westaim since January 2013. Previously, he was a Partner and Portfolio Manager at Goodwood Inc., an investment management firm that he joined in 2002 and since April 2009, has played a central role in the development and growth of Westaim. From 2000-2002, he was Vice President and analyst of a Canadian-based hedge fund investment firm. From 1997-2000, Mr. Kittel was employed by the Cadillac Fairview Corporation, a commercial real estate development company in the investments area. From 1994-1997, Mr. Kittel was a staff accountant at KPMG LLP. Mr. Kittel also served on several boards including Cenveo, Inc. (2005-2007), Pet Valu, Inc. (2008-2009), Jevco Insurance Company (2010-2012), Webtech Wireless Inc. (2011-2015), and Constellation Software, Inc. (2013-Present). Mr. Kittel holds a BBA Honours (Gold Medalist) from Wilfrid Laurier University, is a Chartered Professional Accountant and a CFA Charterholder.
Glenn MacNeil, CPA, CA, CMA, CPA (South Carolina) – Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Glenn MacNeil has been Chief Financial Officer of Westaim since January 2015. Mr. MacNeil brings to Westaim over 30 years of international experience. Mr. MacNeil is a Canadian Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) and a U.S. Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Mr. MacNeil has held Chief Financial Officer and Director positions for numerous private and publicly-held companies in a number of industries including the financial services industry, some of which are as follows: Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of GCAN Insurance Company, at the time a Canadian regulated insurance company subsidiary of Glenstone Capital Inc., (2008-2011); Finance Director of CNA Insurance Company Limited, a European regulated insurance company, (2004-2008); Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President, Canadian Operations of Continental Casualty Company, a Canadian regulated insurance company also known as CNA Canada, (1998-2004); and Vice President Finance, Canadian Operations of Everest Reinsurance Company and Vice President Finance and Director of Everest Insurance Company of Canada, Canadian regulated reinsurance and insurance companies, (1988-1998). Mr. MacNeil is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants Ontario and Certified Public Accountants of South Carolina. Mr. MacNeil received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree (BBA) from the Cape Breton University, Nova Scotia.
Joseph A. Schenk – Managing Director
Mr. Schenk has extensive experience in the global financial services industry, including most recently serving as an Operating Executive of The Carlyle Group’s (NASDAQ: CG) Global Financial Services Group. Prior to Carlyle, Mr. Schenk served as Chief Executive Officer of First New York Securities, LLC, a principal trading firm, and as Chief Executive Officer of Pali Holdings, Inc., a boutique investment banking firm. He spent 15 years with Jefferies Group, Inc., (NYSE: JEF), a full service investment bank and institutional securities firm, in various roles including Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President. Prior to working in the financial services industry, Mr. Schenk worked for Price Waterhouse. Mr. Schenk serves, or has served, on the boards of Hudson Valley Bank (NYSE: HVB), Gain Capital Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: GCAP), Duff & Phelps, ConvergEx Holdings, LLC., Fordham Prep, the New York Catholic Foundation and St. Joe’s Seminary. Mr. Schenk holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Detroit. Mr. Schenk will be based in New York, NY.
